Los faros, ese elemento románico que ha sobrevivido al paso del tiempo, a la globalización y a la era tecnológica; que ha sido testigo de colonizaciones, comercios y catástrofes y que ha presenciado lo mejor y lo peor de la raza humana. Esta torre arquitectónica lleva usándose desde hace cientos de años como señal luminosa para los barcos y su significado ha servido de inspiración y de metáfora a los autores literarios más brillantes. Sin duda, es y será siempre todo un elemento representativo de la historia de la humanidad.
En la isla de Menorca encontramos una gran cantidad de faros repartidos por toda la isla y la gran mayoría se encuentran muy cerca de nuestros hoteles, con lo que visitarlos no os llevará mucho tiempo y podréis conocer un poco de la historia de Menorca. Entre todos estos faros destacan los de Punta Nati, Artrutx, Isla del Aire, Favàritx y Cabo de Cavalleria.
El faro de Punta Nati está situado en el municipio de Ciutadella, cerca de nuestro hotel Viva Menorca, y fue construido en 1912. Su construcción fue impulsada por la gran cantidad de naufragios que se producían cerca de las costas del municipio debido a las corrientes marinas de la zona, el último y más grave antes de su construcción fue el del “Général Chanzy”, un barco francés del que tras su naufragio solo quedó un superviviente y en el que murieron 156 personas.
El faro de Isla del Aire lo encontraréis en la propia Isla del Aire y podréis contemplarlo desde Punta Prima en San Luis o llegar hasta él con transporte marítimo. Otro de los faros más importantes de Menorca es el faro de Artrutx. Construido en 1958, es uno de los faros más longevos de la isla y está situado en Ciutadella a menos de 10km del hotel Viva Menorca. La antigüedad del faro y su forma característica le valieron para ser declarado patrimonio histórico de Menorca en 2005.
Finalmente, os queremos recomendar también el faro de Favàritx y el de Cabo de Cavallería, construidos en 1922 y 1857 respectivamente. El primero fue construido con la propia roca de la zona y se encuentra dentro del Parque Natural de s’Albufera des Grau en el cabo de Favàritx. El segundo podréis visitarlo en el cabo de Cavallería y es el único faro proyectado por Antonio López y Montalvo que permanece activo, además de ser el último de las Islas Baleares en dejar de usar petróleo para su funcionamiento. En ambos casos tendréis que viajar como máximo una hora en coche desde nuestros hoteles para visitarlos, pero os aseguramos que valdrá la pena.

Certainly, it is and always will be a representative element throughout the history of mankind.
There are many headlights spread throughout the island of Menorca and the vast majority are very close to our hotel, so the visit won’t take long and you can learn a little about the history of Menorca. Among all these headlights, we recommend you the highlights of Punta Nati, Artrutx, Isla del Aire, Favàritx and Cabo de Cavalleria.
The lighthouse at Punta Nati is located in the town of Ciutadella, near our hotel Viva Menorca, and was built in 1912. Its construction was prompted by the large number of shipwrecks that occurred off the coast of the municipality due to ocean currents area, the last and most serious before construction was the "General Chanzy", a French boat that after his shipwreck was only one survivor, in which 156 people died.

Another one of the most important headlights of Menorca is the headlight of Artrutx. Built in 1958, it is one of the oldest lighthouses on the island and is located in Ciutadella within 10km of the hotel Viva Menorca. The age of this lighthouse and its characteristic form got it to be declared historical heritage of Menorca in 2005.
Finally, we want to also recommend you the lighthouse of Favàritx and the one located in Cabo de Cavalleria, built in 1922 and 1857 respectively. The first was built on the rock of the area and is within the Natural Park of Albufera des Grau at Cabo Favàritx. You can visit the second one at Cavalleria and it is the only lighthouse designed by Antonio Lopez Montalvo that remains active as well as it is the last of the Balearic Islands stop using oil for operation. In both cases you will need one hour driving from our hotel to visit them, but we assure you it will be worth it.
Many options to see and to feel the living history of the island of Menorca, the Mediterranean and the maritime world. You can not travel to Menorca without having visited at least one of these lighthouses and its breathtaking views.
