1. Christmas Movie Night
Watching Christmas movies as a family is a popular tradition, from classics like "Home Alone" or "Love Actually" to more modern films like "Polar Express." This activity not only allows us to enjoy a good movie but also popcorn and hot chocolate while snuggling on the couch. Who wouldn't love this plan?
2. Gingerbread Cookie Contest
Christmas recipes are especially important at this time of the year, even for the youngest members of the family. The whole family gathers in the kitchen to put their creativity into practice.
Have each family member decorate their own gingerbread cookie, and let a jury decide which one is the most creative. This activity encourages imagination and adds a touch of festive competition.
3. Gift Exchange or Secret Santa
Gift exchange is a Christmas tradition often practiced in many families or friend groups. In the Secret Santa game, participants randomly select another person's name without revealing it to others and prepare a gift to be given on the agreed-upon date.
4. Christmas Karaoke
Undoubtedly, this is one of the most fun games to practice with family during Christmas, ensuring plenty of laughter. Singing your favorite carols with Christmas karaoke will make for a great time. Make it more entertaining by creating groups and having a jury score the best performance. The winner of the night receives a prize for delivering the best show.
5. Creation of Christmas Cards
Making handmade Christmas cards is a creative activity that the whole family can enjoy. These cards can also be a personalized gift for friends and family.
Start by cutting the cardboard to the desired size and fold it in half to form the card. Then, draw or paste your design on the front of the card. Remember to leave space to write a message inside. Add glitter, ribbons, stickers, whatever you want to make your card stand out. Finally, write your message inside the card, it could be a simple "Merry Christmas," a poem, a personalized quote, or whatever you prefer.
6. Christmas Bingo Game
Christmas Bingo is an easy-to-learn and entertaining game, perfect for family enjoyment during the holidays. To play, you'll need Christmas bingo cards, which you can buy or make yourself. Instead of numbers, these cards have images or words related to Christmas, such as a Christmas tree, a snowman, a gift, or a star.
The game begins when the person in charge of the drum randomly draws an image or word and announces it to the group. Participants must look for that image or word on their card. If they have it, they mark it with a marker or chip.
The goal of the game is to be the first to complete a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line of five images or words or fill the entire card, depending on the rules established at the beginning. When a player achieves this, they shout "Bingo!" and become the winner of that round.
7. Cookie Pocket Challenge
In this game, each player has a small pocket or sock tied to their waist and must try to fill it with Christmas cookies without using their hands. The cookies will be scattered around the area where the game takes place, such as a house, a garden, etc. You can make it more challenging by placing the cookies in hard-to-reach places.
8. Jumping on Gift Boxes
This is one of the Christmas games to practice with family that has become more popular in the last year thanks to social media. It is practiced as follows:
First, you'll need several boxes of different sizes that can be easily jumped over. Some should be empty, and others filled with lightweight objects to give them weight. If possible, wrap the boxes in Christmas wrapping paper for a festive touch. Place the boxes in a line or in a pattern on the floor.
Players must jump from one box to another without touching the ground. Some boxes will be empty, and others full, making the game more challenging as the filled boxes may be more difficult to jump over. If a player touches the ground, they must start again. The goal of the game is to reach the end of the box course without touching the ground. The player who completes the course in the shortest time is the winner.
9. Reindeer Race
The reindeer race is a fun and active Christmas game, ideal for playing with family. To play, you'll need balloons (preferably red to resemble Rudolph's nose, the reindeer) and strings or ribbons to tie the balloons.
First, inflate a balloon for each player and tie a string or ribbon to each balloon. Each player must tie the balloon to their waist so that the balloon hangs behind them, simulating the reindeer's tail.
Mark a starting line and a finish line. All players line up at the starting line. When the start signal is given, all players must run to the finish line without their balloon bursting. If a player's balloon bursts, that player is eliminated from the game.
The first player to cross the finish line with their balloon intact is the winner. Undoubtedly, another of the most enjoyable Christmas games to practice with family.
10. Prepare a Personalized Advent Calendar
The Advent Calendar is a tradition used to count down the days leading up to Christmas. The term "Advent" refers to the period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. The purpose of the Advent Calendar is to help remember and celebrate the arrival of Christmas, making the wait more exciting and meaningful, especially for children.
The Advent calendar typically starts on December 1st and ends on December 24th, Christmas Eve. Each day has a numbered window or door that is opened to reveal a picture, message, small gift, sweets, or a Christmas-related figure.
At Hotels VIVA, we want to make this activity easier for you, and that's why we wanted to share with you a model of an Advent calendar with very fun activities to do throughout the month of December. We show you how to do it in the following video:
