Located at the peak of Nao de Formentor, in the north west of Mallorca, is the impressive Es Colomer viewpoint, also known by many as the Sa Creueta viewpoint. Thanks to its stunning views, it has become a real tourist attraction.

At 200m high, this Mallorcan viewpoint offers visitors a truly unforgettable view; a memory you’ll definitely want to capture in photos. The perfect combination of the different shades of blue in the water and the sun against a deep blue sky make this viewpoint a must-see if you come to visit Mallorca.

The area also boasts deep shades of green thanks to its abundant vegetation. At sunset, look out over the Mediterranean Sea and the cliffs of the Serra de Tramuntana which embrace the area from this remarkable balcony. You’ll most certainly be overwhelmed.

You can get to the Es Colomer viewpoint from the Puerto de Pollença, located just 5km away in the direction of Formentor. This viewpoint is on a vertical rock with a carved stairway which will take you to the highest point, where you’ll find a few circular esplanades.

Discover the island’s most famous viewpoint

One of the best times to head to the Es Colomer viewpoint is at sunset, when you can stop to admire these incredible views just as the sun begins to disappear on the horizon. The viewpoint has been reformed several times in order to guarantee maximum security for visitors, in addition to making sure it’s accessible.

Before arriving at this viewpoint you’ll come across a homage to road engineer Antoni Parietti Coll, who was responsible for constructing the road which runs from Puerto de Pollensa to Formentor, in 1925.

In order to get to the Es Colomer viewpoint, you’ll reach a winding road with various bends, so drivers must pay maximum attention at all times, as well as watching their speed to prevent any accidents. Although it’s quite a complex route, it’s definitely worth the effort.

This viewpoint has spectacular views. Not only will you be able to enjoy a postcard-worthy natural landscape, you’ll also be able to visit the Atalaya de Albercutx, a medieval watchtower located 390m above sea level. The watchtower was built at the end of the 16th century in order to protect against the corsairs or pirates that arrived on the island.

You’ll be able to enjoy a fantastic view from this watchtower, looking out over the Cabo de Formentor and the Bahía de Pollença. Important: this area is sometimes exposed to strong winds, so if you’re wearing a hat or scarf, hold on to them so they won’t blow away!
