Es Coll Baix is a beautiful small Mallorcan beach in the area near Alcudia, approximately 10 kilometres away. It is a genuine marvel for nature lovers with its tranquillity and fresh air, making it  a slice of perfect peacefulness to lose yourself in on your holidays in Mallorca.

The beach consists of coarse grey sand and pebbles. Es Coll Baix is nearly 250 metres long and reaches up to 75 metres wide. Arriving at the beach is a challenge in itself, but when you get here you will find yourself at a virgin beach enclosed by vertical walls of rock.

The water here is deep and transparent, so it is not unusual to find a number of private boats here or small tourist vessels who come to make the most of the setting. Es Coll Baix is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in Mallorca.

Es Coll Baix, a perfect beach for getting away from it all

Es Coll Baix does not receive many tourists or even residents of the island, so you are not likely to find large groups of bathers here, as you would on other beaches. This secluded beach on the Balearic Islands is in the area known as Cap del Pinar, and is a taste of paradise, but there is small price to pay if you want to swim here.

Any attempt to arrive here will require a considerable walk. You can do the first part of the journey by car or on a bicycle on a partly surfaced road until you arrive at a refuge. From here you will have to cover the distance to the beach on foot. It will take around 30 minutes walking through pine forests along a winding stony footpath studded with rocks and sharp descents.

Although the last part of the path as you reach the coast is the most complicated to negotiate, the effort is definitely worth it. While reaching Es Coll Baix is a small adventure in itself, you will realise why the beach is highly recommended for anyone who wants to get away from the noise, stress and crowds of our major cities.

Being a beach that is relatively inaccessible, it does not have any services at all. This means that there is no bar, restaurant, lifeguards, etc, so you will have to set out prepared with everything you will need while you are here (water, food etc.).

You must also be careful, because the beach is very steep, so that you will find yourself in deep water only a few metres from the shore. The walk to the beach will provide you with some really beautiful views of this part of the coastline of Mallorca. To arrive in Es Coll Baix you must leave Alcúdia on the Camino del Mal Pas and continue for around 2 kilometres.

You will then come to a small crossroads. Turn right when you arrive at Mal Pas, taking the Camí de Muntanya and go another 5 km until you arrive at a refuge. When you arrive at the refuge, you must take the small path that indicates the route to the beach. You should wear appropriate sturdy footwear to walk this path comfortably.

You are more likely to find the beach occupied if you come here on a weekend or in the month of August. It is common for some of the bathers who come to the beach to practice nudism. The beach is sometimes subjected to large waves because it is open to the sea.
