Touring around a new island by bicycle is a fun way of exploring it. This is why lovers of bicycle touring choose Mallorca as one of the foremost places in the world for cycling. Mallorca offers more than 700 km of secondary roads that are ideal for this activity. Its landscapes, its pleasant climate, with an average temperature of 18° C even in the coldest months, and its routes, suitable both for mountain bikes and road bikes, make Mallorca the mecca of the sport.

Mallorca’s popularity with cyclists from all over the world has meant that the infrastructure the island offers the cycling fraternity has flourished. Indeed, at Hotels VIVA we offer professional cycling stations at our hotels. Some of the most celebrated cycling routes are those that circle the Sierra de Tramuntana, the Albufera natural park and the coastal landscapes of Cabo Formentor.

At Hotels VIVA we offer our guests the possibility of hiring professional-grade cycles, so you don’t have to worry about transporting your own machine and your holidays can be hassle-free. In our buffets we also offer food that is tailored to the high performance that the sport demands. Check out our selection of hotels for sports-enthusiasts on Mallorca.

Moreover Aina, our sports manager, has chosen some of the islands most attractive cycle touring routes:

  • Playa de Muro – Formentor

This is undoubtedly one of the finest bicycle touring routes, because it gives you the most beautiful landscapes of Alcudia bay. It offers you an incredible panoramic view from its departure point in Sa Talaia d’Albercutx, going through Port de Pollensa, which undoubtedly repays the effort of arrival.

  • Port de Sóller – Sa Calobra

This route is designed for adventure lovers, with a packed itinerary that is not suitable for anyone liable to vertigo. The route sets off from Sóller and reaches the highest point on Mallorca, Puig Major.

You’ll skirt round the Cúber and Gorg Blau reservoirs, starting a descent with a set of bends that will take you as far as Calobra, where you’ll need to go through the Monnàber Tunnel. The best thing about this route is that it offers various places where you’ll be able to draw breath and relax.

  • Sineu to Can Picafort Route

This 84-km route is not especially difficult and sets off from the Voltadora de Sineu velodrome towards Inca, taking the road that leads towards the Iluc Monastery. On the road you’ll find the small settlement of Binibona and among the places of interest that you’ll be able to visit on the route are:  Moscari, Sa Pobla and the Albufera natural park.

Crossing the Torrent de Sant Miquel bridge you’ll arrive at a roundabout where you can decide whether to visit Alcúdia and its historic sites or Puerto de Alcudia and its enchanting landscapes.
