The Mondragó Natural Park, declared a Natural Park in 1992, is located in the south east of Mallorca, just 5 kilometres from the town of Santanyí. It’s an incredibly stunning natural area, characterised by an extremely diverse landscape where you can find everything from white sandy coves and imposing cliffs to pine forests, all living in perfect harmony. This is one of Mallorca’s distinguishing characteristics.
Having the s’Amarador freshwater pond and the ses Fonts de n’Alis marsh so close makes this a unique spot with diverse, enviable flora and fauna.
One of the great advantages of the Mondragó Natural Park is that it’s easy to explore thanks to its 4 trails or routes. They’re all well-signposted and accessible, so children can come along.
This route starts at the park car parking area and it’s a short, easy route with a distance of a little over 0.5km. It might be short but it’s very attractive, with a small viewpoint at the ses Fonts de n’Alis pond, which disgorges right at the beach where the route then comes to an end.
Starting and finishing at the Ses Fonts de n’Alis beach car park, this circular route is almost 1km long and allows you to experience the essence of the park: the way the landscape changes from mountain to coast. You can enjoy up to 3 viewpoints and various coves, of which Es Caló des Borgit is particularly beautiful.
Another circular route, this time around 700m, allows you to enjoy S’Amarador beach, connected to Ses Fonts de n’Alis by a path. You’ll also come across a lime furnace and simply spectacular pine forests.
This is the longest route: 1,100m, but equally as accessible. As with all the routes, it’s very well signposted. You’ll be able to see the Torrente de S’Amarador and some ancient buildings along the way.
In addition to the routes, it’s also worth visiting the town of Santanyí, located just 5km away. Beautiful and picturesque, despite being very small, this town stands out for its food and cultural activities, including the frequent live performances. The local market is held every Saturday.
