Ya se puede decir que estamos inmersos en plenas fiestas de Navidad. Como ya sabéis, cada uno tiene sus propias costumbres en estas fechas tan señaladas y ahora, ha llegado la hora de descubrir cómo es la Navidad en Mallorca, cuáles son sus tradiciones y qué puedes hacer en la isla durante estas fechas.
En la mayoría de pueblos y ciudades de Mallorca se montan mercadillos de Navidad, dónde se pueden encontrar todo tipo de figuras navideñas, árboles para decorar y pasear en una calle llena de luces que crean un ambiente fantástico y de lo más acogedor. Los mercados más conocidos son los que se montan en Palma. Por ejemplo, es bien conocido el de la Plaza Mayor de Palma. También se monta un mercadillo navideño, por ejemplo, en Santa Ponsa o Calvia.
Una de las tradiciones de Navidad más antigua de Mallorca es montar el Belén en cada casa. Los niños disfrutan descubriendo las figuras que se esconden entre la elaborada decoración. También es muy común visitar alguno de los belenes públicos en las iglesias o ayuntamientos. Están montados con mucha delicadeza ya que las figuras son artesanales, muy elaborados y forman una estampa gigante.
La comida tradicional navideña se basa en un plato caliente de sopa y un postre dulce. El plato caliente común en estas fechas es la conocida como sopa de Navidad, una pasta rellena de carne con caldo de pollo. De postre, no puede faltar la conocida como Coca de Navidad, un pequeño e individual bizcocho de patata. La mejor Coca de Navidad la encontrarás en el pueblo de Valldemossa.
Una tradición Navideña que no falta en España es la de comer las uvas en fin de año. Todo el mundo lo hace, porque si no significará mala suerte el próximo año, así que ya sabes: Has de tener 12 uvas preparadas y comerlas en la cuenta a tras a las 12 de la noche para dar la bienvenida al 2017. Adiós al 2016 y ¡feliz año nuevo!
Empezamos el año y aún no han terminado las celebraciones para nosotros. Los tres Reyes Magos llegan el 6 de enero para repartir regalos a todos los niños. Sus nombres son Gaspar, Melchor y Baltasar y llegan de Oriente. En España les esperan miles de niños cargados de ilusión.

It is also very common to visit some of the public nativity scene in churches or town halls. They are mounted very delicately since are huge and the figures are handcrafted and very elaborate.
The traditional Christmas meal is based on a hot plate and a sweet dessert. The hot dish common at these dates is known as Christmas soup, a stuffed pasta with meat and chicken broth. For dessert, you cannot miss the Christmas Cake, a small and individual potato sponge cake. You will find the most delicious Christmas Cake in the town of Valldemossa.
A unavoidable Christmas tradition in Spain is to eat the grapes at the end of the year. Everyone does it, because means good luck on the next year, so you know: You have to have 12 grapes prepared and eat them in the count after at 12 a.m to welcome the 2017. Goodbye to 2016 and happy New Year!
