El verano tiene tantas definiciones como personas que disfrutan de él. Hay quien recupera el tiempo perdido leyendo todos los libros que ha ido acumulando sobre la mesita de noche durante todo el invierno, quien se pasa el día en la piscina jugando con sus hijos y quien aprovecha para no poner despertador y levantarse a la hora que le dicta el cuerpo. Y, sin embargo, hay un lugar que nos gusta a todos y a todas, en el que el verano parece cobrar todavía más sentido y en el que seguro que todos nos pondríamos de acuerdo en que el verano se disfruta más y mejor: la playa. Y la imagen que te viene a la cabeza cuando oyes la palabra “playa” es, sin duda, la de Es Trenc.
Y aunque sea muy difícil poner de acuerdo a todos los mallorquines (sobrassada o botifarrons, playas de Llevant o playas de Tramuntana, las ciudades o los pueblos) hay una frase en la que todos coinciden: Es Trenc es una de las mejores playas del mundo. Casi dos kilómetros de arena blanca y fina bañada por aguas turquesas y claras en las que no hay ningún indicio de construcciones ni de urbanizaciones y parece que te hayas alejado de todo para encontrarte con un paisaje único en el mundo. Sin ninguna duda la playa de Es Trenc es uno de esos pocos lugares que te conquistan a primera vista, que te cautivan con las diferentes tonalidades de azul que se mezclan entre el mar y el cielo y por la tranquilidad que se respira en esta inmensa y extraordinaria playa.
Y si quieres descubrir otro paisaje sensacional te recomendamos que visites Cabrera, la pequeña isla que se encuentra frente a la costa sur de Mallorca y que tiene una extensión de poco más de 15 kilómetros cuadrados. Piratas, castillos y prisioneros han compartido protagonismo en esta pequeña isla en la que hoy en día puedes realizar interesantes itinerarios autoguiados como el del faro de l’Enciola o na Picamosques, así como dejarte deslumbrar por la impresionante Cova Blava, en la que el reflejo de la luz del sol crea un ambiente de un azul luminoso que te sorprenderá.
Y aunque ya te hemos recomendado numerosos platos con los que descubrir los sabores de Mallorca y Menorca, todavía no te hemos hablado de uno de los más típicos y tradicionales del verano balear: el tumbet. ¿Y en qué consiste el tumbet? Pues este plato, que tanto puede servirse como plato principal como de acompañamiento para pescados y carnes, está compuesto por capas de patatas, berenjenas y pimientos rojos cortados en láminas finas y fritos por separado con aceite de oliva y ajo. Después se colocan en una greixonera, que es el cuenco de barro tradicional que se utiliza para cocinar en las islas, y se cubren con una fina salsa de tomate. Pruébalo con lomo o con raya frita y no podrás evitar repetir.

Summer has as many definitions as people who enjoy it. And yet, there's a place which is loved by everyone who enjoys summer, a place that defines the summer and that we would all agree that makes all summers better: the beach. And the image that comes to your mind when you hear the word "beach" is with no doubts EsTrenc.
And although it is not easy to make everyone who lives in Mallorca to agree in something (sobrassada or botifarrons, beaches or Serra de Tramuntana, towns or villages), there is a sentence that everyone will agree with: EsTrenc is one of the best beaches in the world. About two kilometers of white sand lapped by clear turquoise waters where there is no sign of construction and where you will think that you've met a unique landscape in the world. With no doubts the beach of EsTrenc is one of those few places that will conquer you at first sight, that will captivate you with the different shades of blue that blend between the sea and the sky and the tranquility in this vast, extraordinary beach.
And if you want to discover another stunning place we recommend you to visit Cabrera, a small island located off the southern coast of Mallorca that has an area of just over 15 square kilometers. Pirates, castles and prisoners have been important in this small island.
You can make really interesting self.guided tours through this island, going to the Enciola Lighthouse or to na Picamosques, but for sure you will enjoy visiting the Cova Blava, an impressive cave there the reflection of the sunlight creates an atmosphere of a bright blue that will surprise you.
And although we've already recommended several dishes with which you’ll be able to discover the flavors of Mallorca and Menorca, yet we have not talked about one of the most typical and traditional Balearic summer meals: tumbet. And what is the tumbet? This dish, which can be served both as a main dish and as an accompaniment to fish and meat, it is composed of layers of potatoes, eggplant and red peppers that are cut thinly and fried separatedlywith olive oil and garlic. Then they are placed in a greixonera which is the traditional clay bowl that is used for cooking in the islands, and covered with a thin tomato sauce. Try it with loin or fried skate and you will not be able to help having another dish.
