If youâre a UK citizen thinking of popping over to Majorca for a much-deserved break then there are things you need to know about the impact of Brexit on your holiday after Brexit. Although, as yet, nothing is written in stone, itâs always best to be prepared. At the time of writing, the UK Government has set the date of 31st January 2020 to leave the EU, so if youâre thinking of travelling to an EU country on or after that date then you need to be aware of the latest information. Of course, if youâre a UK holidaymaker travelling before that date then nothing will have changed as the UK will still be a member of the European Union, so itâs business as usual! Youâll still be able to use your European Health Insurance Card when you book your package holiday and show your passport at EU/EEA gates. However, if you travel before the leave date and come back after, then travel in the EU after Brexit rules will apply.
If the UK leaves the EU with a deal, then a transition period will come into force and everything will continue as before until the end of that period. Leaving the EU without a deal means youâll have to take action to make sure your paperworkâs in order before you travel. One of the things you shouldnât have to worry about is whether your booking will be safe as your package holiday should be covered by the Package Travel Regulations. But you will need to check your passport; it must have at least 6 months left on it before you have to renew. Youâll also need to take out comprehensive travel insurance as your EHIC card might not be valid. And if youâre thinking of driving while on holiday and taking your car with you, then you might need an international driving licence for you and a green insurance card for your vehicle. Pets are another issue. If you usually take âFluffyâ with you on your jaunts then youâll have to start planning at least 4 months in advance. Youâll also need to check with your phone operator about roaming charges as you might not get free roaming in the EU anymore.
However, one of the things that will remain the same after Brexit is the unparalleled service quality and warm welcome at Hotels VIVA & Resorts.
