The waters of the Mediterranean Sea are among the most crystalline in the world, and with an extraordinary biodiversity. And what better way to explore the secrets of the depths than by scuba diving in Mallorca?
In this article, we’ll tell you about the best places to dive, including scuba diving, diving centres in Palma de Mallorca, special dives in and around caves, and the best beaches for scuba diving. Ready to dive in? Let's go!
The Toro Marine Reserve is one of the best-known areas for diving in Mallorca. The cape that extends from the peninsula to the southwest is submerged in the sea, creating an underwater platform of stone and granite which is ideal for diving and scuba diving in Mallorca.
The easiest way to reach the reserve is from the maritime club of Santa Ponça or from Puerto Adriano. It only takes a few minutes to get to the reserve from either of these points.
The Malgráts are islets located in the municipality of Calviá. These islets are ideal for diving in Mallorca for beginners. Punta de les Malgráts, however, is for more advanced divers, and we recommend you go with diving specialists to these areas of the islands. There’s a natural pool that forms in this area, and this makes it a perfect place for snorkelling and diving in Mallorca, as well as kayaking or boat trips.
To the south of the island of Mallorca, opposite Colonia de Sant Jordi, we can find the Cabrera Archipelago National Park. This national park is a great option for people who are looking for the best beaches to enjoy diving. The Cabrera Archipelago National Park is a group of islets that was declared a Maritime-Terrestrial National Park and that has a virtually unspoilt landscape.
This area has the greatest biodiversity of fish in the whole of the Mediterranean and is, therefore, an unmissable place if you want to go diving in Mallorca. The underwater part of the archipelago is undoubtedly the highlight. Within this archipelago, the island of Cabrera is the largest and offers unique underwater landscapes, as do the other islands in the group.
The marine area of the Natural Park of sa Dragonera has recently been declared a marine reserve. The island of sa Dragonera has one of the most popular diving experiences with tourists during the diving season in Mallorca. The Cueva de la Ventana dive is a truly amazing cave dive – a unique and unmissable experience. The 50-metre deep cliffs and the caves with air bubbles are some of the unique landscapes that can be found on this island.
The Cueva de la Ventana, with its unique air bubble and window (which the cave takes its name from) and spectacular views from inside the cliff, is incredibly beautiful. Diving in Mallorca’s caves is a truly unique experience that any diver will appreciate.
Never been diving before? Then your visit to Mallorca is an excellent chance to do your first dive. A diving baptism is the safest and most fun way to get to know and discover the wonders of the underwater world for the first time.
There are several diving centres in Palma de Mallorca that can guide you and prepare you for your first dives in Mallorca. Some of them can even pick you up from your hotel and, as well as diving, offer many other activities in their centres, such as kayaking, snorkelling, and boat trips.
Would you like to enjoy diving like never before? Mar Balear can offer you the best facilities to help you enter this magical world, full of life and colour. Children and adults alike can enjoy this activity as it’s suitable for everyone. However, if you’ve already got diving experience, you can go ahead and book equipment and then go scuba diving in one of their marine reserves. Mar Balear Dive Center is located in Puerto Adriano, one of the best ports for diving excursions in Mallorca.
If you’re looking for a professional centre with a plenty of experience in scuba diving, then ZOEA Mallorca is the ideal place. This diving centre is located in the port of Santa Ponça and is considered a PADI five-star centre for its quality and services. ZOEA Mallorca has more than 30 dive sites, guided by qualified and professional instructors, who will organise groups based on the divers' experience and certification. They even have night dives, wreck dives, cave dives, and much more to ensure that you enjoy diving in Mallorca.
One of Mallorca’s main attractions is undoubtedly its unspoilt nature, both on land and underwater. Taking part in different activities to discover its impressive biodiversity is a real priority when visiting this Mediterranean land. We’d like to encourage you to discover our island’s abundant marine life through responsible scuba diving.
