This summer you mustn't miss the great variety of concerts in Mallorca. Our Hotels VIVA are situated in a true musical paradise.
In fact, musical culture has been one of the main driving forces behind the modernisation of our island, and its influence is still very much alive in events such as the summer verbenas or the numerous concerts that are held in Mallorca throughout the year.
The influence of music on Mallorca (and vice versa) isn't new. Many people know about Chopin's connection with our island, and religious compositions have played an important role in our popular culture.
Its greatest exponent is the apocalyptic "Canto de la Sibil.la", of medieval origin, which can be heard in many parts of Mallorca on Christmas Eve.
The number of concerts in Mallorca, especially pop and rock-based, increased considerably from the 1970s onwards, when international tourism brought modernity, consumerism and youth identity.
This meant that our island soon became the setting for many promotional songs and epitomized the phenomenon of versions of songs in different languages, which wasn’t very common then.
If you're going to visit Mallorca in the next few months, one of the best ideas is to go to concerts or music festivals.
Some of them are of high prestige, and will host top-level artists.
Possibly the best-known concert festival in Mallorca is the Mallorca Live Festival 2023, which will be held this May in the Old Aquapark in Calviá.
The organisers hope to exceed the 22,000 attendees of the last edition thanks to an impressive line-up featuring performances by The Kooks, Black Eyed Peas, Quevedo, The Chemical Brothers, Viva Suecia, Vetusta Morla, Bad Gyal, León Benavente and Peggy Gou.
The end of May also sees the big international rock event in Mallorca: the Heavy Balear Fest a Es Gremi will be held on the 27th of May 2023 and features a line-up including Eveth, Unbounded Terror, Vulgar Chaos, Toxic Army, MRC and Jon Sickers.
Indie music lovers will have their big date at the end of July in the town of Porreres, in the southern central part of the island.
This year's line-up includes Temples, La Bien Querida, Joan Miquel Oliver, Cala Vento, Júlia Colom, Miquel Serra, Amulet, Els Pets, Bilo, Cadmus, Nita, Ramé, La Flor Romanial, Renaldo i Clara and Da Souza.
