In this article, we’re going to get straight to the point: do you want us to recommend the perfect beach holidays with kids? Well, it’s in Mallorca at just over 3km from the Puerto de Alcudia and it’s called Playa de Alcanada.
The Playa de Alcanada is located in the Cap de Pinar peninsula, an area to the north of the Island with a lot of environmental interest and landscapes. It is embraced by a mountainous peak, the Puig de Sa Madona at just over 150m high. In front of its coast is the islet of Alcanada, with a lighthouse and the Torre Mayor, a 17th century defensive fort from which the Mallorcan natives attempted to prevent attacks by the corsairs.
We don’t say that Playa de Alcanada is perfect for visiting with kids, for nothing. Here are a range of different arguments to demonstrate this:
Not only is it stunning and peaceful, the Playa de Alcanada is characterised by its shallow water, so it’s very safe. You’ve got to swim out very far to be out of your depth.
You don’t have to know how to swim to get over to the islet of Alcanada from the beach, as it’s no deeper than 1.5m. So, parents and older children can cross over almost walking and it’s easy to help the littler ones.
Once you get over to the islet, you can visit the lighthouse which has some incredible views over the Bahía de Alcudia.
It’s located in a natural spot with pine trees and shade. This, on top of its incredibly clean and clear water, transforms this into the ideal place for relaxation for the whole family.
There are all kinds of services and additional leisure facilities, such as: slides, catamarans or sailing trips.
There are lifeguard towers along the entire beach, so it’s unlikely that the kids will have an accident in the water or get lost.
Access by car is easy and there’s a free car park with plenty of spaces.
On the other hand, the fact that Alcanada is so close to the Puerto de Alcudia means you can top off a day at the beach with a visit to the port and a family lunch or dinner at one of its magnificent restaurants, or an ice cream in its many bars or cafés.
The hotels in the Hotels VIVA group are located in the north of Mallorca, so they are very close to Alcanada and many other coves and beaches in the area with a combination of stunning landscapes, calm, clear water and have all the services you need, making them all excellent to enjoy as a family.
We should also add that the Playa de Alcanada isn’t overcrowded, so it remains a place to be discovered – a genuine diamond.
