Are you looking to turn your holiday into a unique, fun-filled experience? Here at Hotels VIVA we’re going to tell you all about the best options for adventure in Mallorca.
Mallorca is the ideal place for you if you’re a nature and adrenaline lover. On our island you can enjoy adventure activities based at sea (diving, kayaking, snorkelling, flyboarding, surfing, ...), in the mountains (canyoning, climbing, hiking routes, ...) or in the air (hot air balloon or helicopter rides).
Mallorca’s very special landscapes means that the views from the air are a spectacle that you should experience at least once in your life!
For this reason, in Mallorca you’ll find different companies that organise balloon and helicopter trips to discover the most hidden-away treasures and beautiful natural areas of the island.
These excursions start in areas such as Canyamel, Portocolom, Cala Rajada, Cala Millor, and Alcúdia, and are perfect for discovering the true geography of Mallorca and its most exclusive coves.
Undoubtedly, it’s a magical and unforgettable adventure for adventurers of all ages.
Mallorca, with its impressive cliffs, is an ideal island to enjoy climbing. In particular, the area known as Tijuana, between Cala Santanyí and Cala Figuera, has become an unmissable stop for lovers of psicobloc. Psicobloc is a variant of sport climbing that consists of scaling cliffs (often of 5-6 metres), without a rope (a mat known as a crashpad is used) and over the sea.
Psicobloc requires training, physical strength, and a lot of concentration. However, those who practice this discipline assure us that it’s well worth the effort, as the sensation of freedom it offers is incredible.
The Tijuana area is a unique area for this activity for three reasons: the quality of its rock (mostly sandstone), the diversity of its routes, and the beauty of its surroundings.
Tijuana and other areas of Mallorca are also perfect for coasteering, an adventure sport that consists of carrying out a route near the coast combining different activities such as hiking, water jumps, exploring caves, diving, abseiling, zip-lining, and crossing rope bridges.
If you’re looking for adventure on foot in Mallorca, the Torrent de Pareis route certainly won’t disappoint you.
Recommended for experienced hikers, the route has areas with a gradient of over 600 metres which runs between cliffs and streams of varying lengths. It’s considered one of the most extreme routes in Mallorca.
On this route, you’ll discover enclaves of great beauty, such as Entreforc, the Gorg del Capellà, the Cova del Romegueral, the Gorg del Degotís, and the Torrent de Pareis itself. The latter runs through the Tramuntana mountain range, and is its only outlet to the sea, more than 3 kilometres long. It’s known for its unique flora and for being home to endemic species such as the Balearic toad and the Mallorcan midwife toad.
The Torrent de Pareis route ends at Sa Calobra, a beautiful beach formed by boulders and declared a Natural Monument.
In an article about having adventure in Mallorca we certainly couldn’t forget water activities such as flyboarding, which is gaining more and more enthusiasts.
This recently-created extreme water sport consists of standing on a board (similar to a surfboard) with two powerful downward pressure water jets that allow users to "fly" over the surface of the sea, dive into it, and do all kinds of pirouettes.
Currently, you can do flyboarding in several coves and beaches on our island, including the bay of Alcúdia, Port Cala Nova, and Portixol.
